Universal Works

Universal Works was founded by David Keyte, a former designer for Paul Smith and Maharishi, with a vision to create honest men’s clothing rooted in quality fit and functional design. Keyte’s approach emphasizes thoughtful detail without being overly elaborate, inspired by his experiences growing up in a Midlands town in the 1970s. His style draws heavily on the music and sports subcultures of that era, as well as his working-class background, where he noticed how men, including his father and uncles, carefully chose their outfits—whether for work or the weekend.

In 2008, Keyte launched Universal Works to bring together these two distinct styles, prioritizing both fit and utility in his designs. Some of the brand's staple pieces include the Wool Fleece Cardigan, Bakers Overshirt and Jacket, and the Military Chino and Pleated Track Pant.
