Folk Clothing began its life in 2001 as the brainchild by Cathal McAteer. His aim was to not only create stylish clothing, but to look beyond this into the larger context of modern product design including furniture and artwork. Folk clothing focuses on simple patterns, quality fabrics and attention to detail. The simplistic everyday garments are playful yet subtle, combining streetwear with an architect aesthetic. This makes their clothing a go to for wearable, everyday wardrobe staples that last.
Folk clothing enjoy working with design experts to develop new collections, recently teaming up with Yorkshire born artist Alfie Kungu to produce a summer capsule collection which includes 2 designs of the soft collar shirts, matching shorts and bucket hat. His works are nostalgic, they resemble the inner workings of a 90's cartoon brain on a Gameboy colour mission.
Key pieces from the Folk Spring/Summer 2019 collection are the Outline Gilet, Rivet Funnel Neck sweatshirt plus the ever present Folk Assembly chino trousers in 4 colourways and the Folk Horizon workwear inspired jacket.
